An Analysis of Humor Produced in Friends from the Perspective of Cooperative Principle

Abstract


This research aims to analyze how humor is created through violating the four maxims of cooperative principle by using specific examples from an American sitcom, Friends. Also, it can provide us something to think and to learn when we want to create humor on our own.
